Product Review: AirBuds Wireless Earbuds

1. Introduction

The AirBuds Wireless Earbuds caught my attention as an affordable and compact option for on-the-go listening. Previously, I used a standard pair of wired headphones that had a lot of sound leakage. I purchased them hoping for a reliable, everyday earbud with good sound quality and modern features like no sound leakage and ease of use. Listening to upbeat music gives me some added energy while walking from place to place.  Sometimes I have no choice but to get myself to the end of the street one way or another and, since few strangers are open to giving piggyback rides, I need to make myself move somehow.

2. Key Features

AirBuds offer Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity for a reliable connection and include touch-sensitive controls for easy playback, pause and call management. They support both Siri and Google Assistant for hands-free functionality. With a built-in microphone, they’re optimized for calls, and their USB-C charging ensures fast recharges. Mine AirBuds take about 2 hours to fully charge then last up to a week with moderate use (several times a week). I keep the case charged, but the AirBuds can last up to 6 hours outside of the case.

3. Pros

The sound quality of AirBuds is impressive for the price, delivering crisp highs and balanced mids, ideal for casual music and podcasts. I listen to music on the highest volume to get the beats (it’s a deaf thing) so I like that there is no sound leakage and I’m the only one enjoying the beats while I follow along with the lyrics on my phone. The lightweight, ergonomic design ensures a comfortable fit. I loved the fast and stable pairing, and the touch controls were convenient and responsive. The compact charging case is sleek and pocket-friendly, making the earbuds easy to carry everywhere or slip in your work bag as you travel to your next networking event.

4. Cons

While many users have complained about the microphone quality, I have noticed that answering calls while pairing the AirBuds with my speech-to-text (TTY) app doesn’t work well.  built-in microphone. The  Additionally, the 6-hour battery life per charge may not suffice for extended use without the case. I usually have the case charged and in my bag. Lastly, while the touch controls are convenient, they can be overly sensitive, leading to occasional misinputs.

5. Performance/Experience

AirBuds delivered a solid performance for everyday use. The Bluetooth connection was reliable, with no noticeable lag during music playback or calls. The audio quality was clear, and the bass, though not very deep, was suitable for casual listening. The earbuds fit securely and remained comfortable during workouts. Recharging was quick and hassle-free via USB-C, and the charging case added an extra layer of convenience by extending usage time throughout the day. Despite minor drawbacks, such as the microphone quality in noisy settings, the overall experience was smooth and enjoyable.

6. Comparison

Compared to similar models like the SoundPEATS TrueAir2, AirBuds hold their own with stable connectivity and intuitive touch controls. While the SoundPEATS offer slightly better microphone performance, AirBuds stand out for their more compact design and comfortable fit.

7. Value for Money

AirBuds are an excellent value for their price, offering reliable performance and essential features without breaking the bank. The combination of decent sound quality, voice assistant compatibility, and a sleek charging case makes them a worthwhile purchase for budget-conscious users.

8. Recommendation

I’d recommend AirBuds to anyone looking for an affordable, lightweight, and convenient pair of wireless earbuds. They’re best suited for casual listeners, commuters, and those who value portability and ease of use.

9. Final Rating

5/5 stars.

AirBuds offer solid performance and great features at an affordable price, making them a fantastic option for everyday use.
